IMPORTANCE OF PROPER POSTURE IN CONTEMPORARY WORLD...

Hey Everyone….

Hope you’re all doing great….

In contemporary world, where everyone is sitting against the laptop, in order to accomplish something, are we practicing the right body posture and how is it important in our everyday life, how can it deteriorate our health if we don’t have the right posture ????

We’re gonna discuss everything…. Just grab a cup of tea and read the article to the end…

WHAT IS POSTURE??

Basically, Posture is the way we hold our bodies in different positions and situations like standing, sitting, sleeping, eating, reading etc…

IMPORTANCE:

Posture is a very big component of our overall health. It is as significant as the other essential tasks we perform to maintain our well-being. This can really help us to increase our energy and keep away all the laziness and fatigue. We can get our body to work for some extra hours without any issue. But, in the long run if we do not exercise the right posture it can really damage our health, and we will end up having lots of pain in our body which after certain amount of time cannot be avoided by the painkillers and medicines, where surgery may be the temporary solution but correction of posture will be the ultimate solution….

Physiotherapy says:

1.A good posture holds all the spinal joints in their place making less stress on the ligaments which reduces the chances of a serious injury…

2.There is less muscular pain and back pain.

3.It keeps all the different parts of our body in their place with reduced stress.

4.When all the joints are aligned at their proper positions, there is no unusual wear and tear of body.

5.Right Posture helps us avoid many unwanted and short term illnesses.

HOW CAN WE PRACTICE THE RIGHT POSTURE??

So we can divide this task in three different positions:

1. Standing: When we stand, we have to make sure our upper body is tall and straight which means your neck should be straight, your arms should be hanging naturally with shoulders not leaning forward or backward and there is no curve or bend in your spine. Our feet must be at a distance of 4-5 inches keeping our weight on the soles.

2. Sitting: Make sure the feet is lying on the ground or have some other support, our knees must be below your hip level, our spine is straight and shoulders are in the relaxing position and spine is straight.

3. Sleeping or lying: We must have a comfortable mattress, it doesn’t matter if its hard or soft. Pillow must not be too high or low because our neck and body has to be in a line for better blood flow.

But in context of today’s technology era, there are some other things to be taken care of:

DO’S AND DON’TS

1. Do not use any electronic device when walking because its really unhealthy.

When standing, make sure you use it for a very minimal time but if you do stand straight as described above, hold the device with both the hands and don’t bend down your neck, the device must be right in front

2. When standing, make sure you use it for a very minimal time but if you do stand straight as described above, hold the device with both the hands and don’t bend down your neck, the device must be right in front of your eyes at a distance( of 15cm in case of phone, 30cm in case of laptop) without bending neck.

3. When sitting, make sure the position is correct, now you can hold the phone or laptop with both of your hands (not only one), your neck is straight and the device is just parallel to your eyes at a distance and your arms and shoulders are supported. (Don’t chit chat on your phone with one hand in any position as it is unhealthy for your thumb)

4. Do not use any device when you are lying on bed or going for sleep. Avoid all the devices 2 hours before going to sleep.

A good body posture in context of technological use which occupies the major portion of our lives today can help us have a better quality of health and productivity complementary to each other…
