As we grow up in a patriarchal , male chauvinist society we are told to represent ourselves in a certain way. We have created a culture that values beauty above all other innate traits........for women atleast !!!
Where women are known by their pretty faces and men are valued by their success which is seen as a result of talent and hard work.
Starting with the very definition of body and beauty . So a body is a physical structure and substance of animal or plant , living or dead. It can be a corpse , carcass, trunk or mass . Whereas the societal definition of beauty is something which is pleasing to the eye. But the word is more complex than that!

How does the society exactly decides what is appropriate and what is not. People make derogatory comments on the color of our skin , on the shape of our body , on the fat of your thigs and what not. These comments upholds ignorant and exclusive beauty standards that have historically disregarded and isolated us. These opinions don't matter when we know our worth.
Patriarchy existed long before women posted their pictures on Instagram, sexual violence existed long before women wore short clothes and misogyny was practiced long before women even knew it was WRONG.
These false beauty standards gives birth to insecurity and complexity among teenagers. They are running in a never ending race of perfection. Every person on this planet wants to have a good skin , perfect hair and perfect body . Applications like face cam and beauty plus helps us to smoothen our scars ,stretchmarks ,cellulite and every other flaw. Most Instagram Models know their filter , lighting ,angles and pose.
MODELS ARE REAL, BUT THEIR IMAGE IS NOT.

We shouldn't compare ourselves to a stranger on the internet. Reality is a whole lot more varied, diverse and human than that. It's more perfectly imperfect , REAL and RAW. You will carry more weight in your arms or thigs or a fat nose or birthmarks on your back or blemishes on your face. Making steps to accept it and embrace it is what you need to do.
CONFIDENCE CAN BE TRULY CONTAGIOUS! Whatever makes you feel confident regardless of the size, because your body is NOT defined by a number and neither should be your confidence.
Rather than blaming ourselves, starting crazy diets or cringing at your pictures we need to stop trying to achieve these impossible beauty standards of what supposedly is beautiful and embrace our own BEAUTY!
